A special blog for a very special photo…

As a member of the NSW RFS (Rural Fire Service) since 1994, I sometimes get to see the most incredible sights and most times I don’t have a camera with me (not even a mobile phone). Well this time I had brought my camera and when things had quietened down a bit, read 5am the next morning 🙂 , I was able to capture what has become my most published photograph.

At the time I called it “Hotter” and put it onto one of the Stock Photograph sites (iStock Photo which is now owned by Getty Images) and didn’t think much more of it. Now unbeknownst to me, the NSW RFS purchased the image from iStock and printed it over 750,000 times!!! On posters, billboards, their website and it featured heavily in the published Bushfire Survival Plan too. It has since been picked up by a few other fire agencies worldwide. Happy Day’s…
